Holger Schüler: Guy with beard and dog helps with dog training

Holger Schüler: Typ mit Bart und Hund hilft bei der Hundeerziehung

Characteristic guy with a beard and a dog helps with dog training; that is probably the best way to describe the character and work of Holger Schüler. With his direct, blunt and honest manner, Holger has enchanted dogs and owners alike for more than 25 years. As a training consultant for dogs, he constantly questions the human relationship with the four-legged friend and helps to improve the relationship. However, his advice goes far beyond the content of normal puppy and dog school. Although Holger also helps with learning basic commands such as "sit", "down" and "out", he sees himself primarily as a consultant in matters of training. He offers assistance in strengthening the relationship between four-legged friends and humans in everyday life. His dog Dakota helps him with this.

In today’s blog post, we’ll tell you what makes a serious dog training consultant and what drives Holger.

Holger Schüler: Honest view instead of blind love of animals

Holger is one of the best-known dog trainers in Germany. He is best known for his approach: blind love of animals harms the dog. His honest view and his ability to recognize problems in the nature before they arise; that is what the bearded Munich native's daily work is all about. For more than 25 years he has dedicated himself to the topic: dog training with heart. However, the basis of his daily work is not just the resocialization of difficult-to-train dogs. Rather, it is the daily interaction with the dog that makes the job as a dog trainer so exciting for Holger and his dog Dakota. During his voluntary work at Fred Obermayer's wildlife rescue center, it became clear that working with animals was his calling.

It was Fred Obermayer who convinced Holger to train as a dog trainer and dog rescue leader. After graduating, he completed numerous advanced training courses with well-known trainers. In addition to various courses such as "abseiling with dogs" and the successful "rubble search with dogs", he successfully attended various courses that taught about communication with dogs. The area of the psychology of dogs and their owners also piqued Holger's interest.

At that time, Holger was accompanied by his Bernese Mountain Dog Tobi in the dog rescue squad. After Tobi came Falk. Falk, a Chesapeake Bay Terrier, spent 18 wonderful years with Holger. If you are a dog owner, then you know the great value of this proud age, but also the health problems that a dog can have at this age. Not only his knowledge as a dog training consultant, but also this very experience of growing old with a dog, prompted Holger to have his dog Dakota's teeth cleaned with our emmi®-pet ultrasonic toothbrush for dogs from a young age. Holger treats small wounds or skin abrasions that Dakota has sustained during her work with the dog rescue squad very efficiently with our emmi®-pet 2.0 skin & dental care set .

dog training consultant with passion

Holger knows that the problem with a dog is almost always at the other end of the leash. Blind love of animals often leads to massive training errors. This is exactly where he effectively uses his qualities as a dog training consultant and not only advises his customers, but also carries out the work. He is helped in this by his dog Dakota and his many years of know-how. The latter puts Holger in the fortunate position of being able to read the human-dog team and help them individually. The result: a harmonious everyday life for both humans and dogs.

Holger describes himself as a colorful character when he talks about his activities outside of dog training. Whether as a dog trainer instructor or with his own stage show, as an expert for various specialist magazines, author of books on dog training or as a consultant on TV shows; Holger is one of the few dog trainers who can prove that he is certified in accordance with Section 11 of the Animal Welfare Act and is therefore allowed to work with animals in front of an audience.
